Pain
For some time I had problems with the cervical spine. To make matters worse a few weeks ago there was added a moderately severe whiplash. For ease my pain I wanted to make a seasoned, finely annoying osteopath, who should carry with me a few magic attacks, something that I felt as blocked and slipped again to its proper place.
I found this gentleman well, and as expected, he pressed on two points behind both ears, and put my neck still plagued each one slowly to the right and left - and great! My radius increased significantly together with a sense of unblocking. I was on the right track.
Yesterday I made a mistake. A friend offered me in exchange for a favor shown her a massage. Actually, I should have known: One should not allow themselves to be massaged by lay people in a healing process, especially not in the delicate neck.
This morning was then nothing more. Evil pain joined to a complete blockade, and I even discovered something rising temperature. Crap! I had time, "no" have to say. Lunch then came an unexpected call from a distant acquaintance, who reports at irregular intervals, each surprising and entertaining with all sorts of topics from middle to high explosive importance takes my attention for at least an hour. This friendly man turned out to be my salvation, for he drew my attention quite easily to other topics - my spine got relief - of my attention, and thus the pain stopped.
I took that as an opportunity once again on "pain" to think: Surely every man falls in the course of his life as a human experience that pain become unbearable to the extent that we focus exclusively on them. Conversely, the more distractions you are prescribed eg headache, migraine and other ill-health, the better! I have personally discovered as gardening or walking against pain or depressed-being as effective.
So many people, so many tricks. Some do it as the way to a computer screen: Click on the pain, as a symbol of their screen saver and this move far to the edge there in a corner and park it. This is possible, of course, not only with pain but with any other content of consciousness, even the bad conscience, as an emerging memory, etc.
Several months ago, had told a young woman with something interesting, which confirmed my observations so far: She works as a fashion designer and occasionally on film sets and gets there with a lot. It was on one occasion a severe injury to his arm and technically prepared emery first used for a subject, before the actor was to be the actual injury "inflicted". The make-up technician accordingly conducted a trial run at a "guinea pig" by him and fabricated a gaping wound on his arm.
The subject was then at a certain point of the exercise adamant that the crew had gone too far and infringed their skin, because it presented a lot of pain! Even when you remove the fake injury "autschte" the subject, because she was convinced that her skin was torn. Well, as we can imagine, it was not the case. The pain was imaginary!
When it was then taught for the actual movie actor, the "injury", presented themselves to him also a pain! He was also adamant that they had gone too far and would have stabbed him in the arm ...
Some time ago I had seen dozing on a couch at an English beach in the sun reading the Daily Mail - I do not usually drawn frequently consulted sources of information. I deciphered from a distance, but the headline "Beat pain with the power of positive thought" (Fighting pain with the power of positive thinking), therefore, waited until the lady left the beach and scooped up the dog-eared page.
The report of the Daily Mail was a pilot study using a new generation of MRI scanners (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). In patients with chronic pain conditions like back problems, neuralgia, nerve pain and migraine, the brain with these MRI scanners tested and it shows the blood flow in pain-related brain areas on a monitor image. The patients were given special glasses for the experiment, which represented the blood stream as a flame. The greater the blood stream, the greater the pain, the greater the flame. Next, the patients were asked to reduce the size of the flame in that they focus on something else concentrated (Ablenkung!), eg a holiday or to imagine how the flames with a bucket of water removed or treated as the affected brain area with strong pain medication would. The theoretical question was whether a patient, in that he sees how his thinking is reduced by the size of the flame of pain, can learn to control his pain with the help of the techniques learned.
The results of the pilot study showed an approximately 64% reduction in pain after application of the described therapy. "This is the first clinical application of this new technology that allows people to watch their own brain at work and to learn to control it." (Dr. John Hawkinson, vice president of the U.S. company "Omneuron" which the study collaboration with Stanford University carried out.)
The article also announced the launch of a new clinical trial with 144 patients and looked at the same time on the question whether the new technology could potentially be successful in other diseases such as depression or drug addiction.
The results of the study make us realize what we pretty much knew: namely, how powerful is our thinking, and how we enforce a purposeful steering of our consciousness, things moving and changing, or may cause them to disappear. For everything that exists and wants to be perceived, needs our attention, our awareness just being.
The described awareness exercise on pain of course not completely clarify the question of what pain actually is, because the actual or perceived cause of the pain remained so even when the patients are the pilot study.
We are at this point the mystery of "pain" can certainly not be fully ventilated. Only so much should be added: Pain is also acquired and is as always in a cultural and situational context. This became clear to me as I watched for a long time a sometimes exhausted young mother and her extremely lively, and a half year old daughter: The child was extremely reckless and motor in relation to their peers very far forward. However, they could simply because of their small body size, due to their disability and their Windelpopo still short something for the ages typical O pins do not climb all the things, such as a high slide. Therefore, the girl had developed in their conquest urge a special climbing techniques: She put her little Schmerbäuchlein on a rung of the ladder to the slide, from balanced and grabbed then suddenly the next higher rung of the ladder, to then klimmzugartig, groaning hochzuwuchten with the legs on. These physical conditions often led to some Abrutschern and crashes. Then the girl threw the mother sitting nearby lightning quick look at to determine how to evaluate his bad crash had been. It said so basically a "pain scale" from. The mother was a little tired but the one out right, on the other they had no desire for a "huge theater" and looked so easy bargain only compassionate but neutral. That was confirmation enough for the little girl in order to make clear that everything was not so bad, and basically the same to give it a try climbing again.
I experienced a similar situation as the girl described for the first time in a swimming pool with a small children's slide enthusiasm in the children's pool threw down. His enthusiasm and his inexperience could land it on water, but of course, appear at once, where it was greeted by the beaming face of his mother, who - again - could not face a "huge theater". The little girl took the whole thing is more than an instructive encounter with the true wet element and less than one-threatening, painful story.
For the quoted because of the "experiments" may be concerned reader noted that the said mother is a teacher and kindergarten teacher. In climbing it is therefore one of the basic rules, basically to help the children not up to it even realistic to gain insight into their respective capabilities, and have just not come to falls from a height that could be dangerous.
Would have on the small Abrutschern and crashes the mother does not so respond calmly, but with panic and would cause jumps have come to comfort and talk Heal, heal, bless, have the child at the next "time" knew where the pain would be to because there would be additional attention with less "rewarded" for it was ...
Pain is a very complex process that requires not only energy in the form of consciousness, but is learned differently, and may be addressed differently?
Principle applies to pain the same thing applies to many other mind or consciousness, such as sadness, happiness, grief, withdrawal feelings, elation, sadness, happiness, etc. Also, we can "feed" our attention, or by withdrawal of attention to the shrinking or cause them to disappear.
