When will I find out about the new long-range military transport A400M, of which Germany has ordered 60 pieces, on the official site of the "Federal Ministry of Defense," I find there to do anything, but just on the first page something else:

The reference to a speech of Federal Defense Minister zu Guttenberg during the ceremony, "armed forces and American Jewish Committee: 15 years of partnership and trust" in Berlin on 8.12.2009.

Very clear: I had missed something.
The AJC is one founded in 1906 in the U.S. private organization. I knew not yet that the army received official partnerships with private organizations.

The AJC looks, according to own statements , especially in the role of "the welfare and security of Jews in the United States, Israel and around the world by acting, the most important principles of pluralism as the best defense against anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry to strengthen the world, to improve the quality of American Jewish life by helping to ensure Jewish continuity and deepen ties between American and Israeli Jews. "

So far so good. I would have understood if would be done in a partnership with the AJC and German memorials - but with the Defense Department? So I had the speech read Guttenberg, and I strive for more understanding:

"We Germans want to keep alive memories of the Shoah. We put our special responsibility we bear for the barbarity of National Socialism, and the responsibility that we will not tolerate anti-Semitism and that we advocate the right of existence and the integrity of the State of Israel, and the responsibility that freedom, human rights and tolerance, the top maxims of our actions represent. This responsibility is an immutable part of German raison d'état. This responsibility requires all Germans - and thus the army as an army of a democratic Germany. " (more ...)
