At this point I already had an article about the huge new gas finds in the eastern Mediterranean adjusted. As a reminder, in 2009 and 2010, the Tamar and Leviathan gas fields were discovered off the coast of Israel, which immediately raised questions as to any claims of Lebanon and the Palestinians (in Gaza are assumed greater occurrence). However, Israel has not signed the international Seerechtsstatuten so that the staking of gas "claim" is not without problems.
In the United States there is a geological report, which is always updated. This "US Geological Survey" (USGS) for 2010 noted on April 8 for the gas reserves in the eastern Mediterranean:
"The region of the Levant Basin is comparable to some of the largest natural gas fields in the world and its gas resources are bigger than anything we have in the United States reviewed so far." At that time, the USGS estimated the speech of 122 trillion cubic feet (tcf), ie trillion cubic feet.
In May 2010, the USGS gave an estimate of the entire eastern Mediterranean arch including the Nile Delta and Turkey the coast and came up with a number of 345 tcf of gas and 3.4 billion barrels of oil. In order to appreciate the immense deposits better, here are the comparative figures from other natural gas regions of the world: (more ...)
